NordicTrack C2500 Treadmill Review

The NordicTrack C2500 treadmill is up against some stiff competition in its price bracket, and with the Nordictrack C2000 currently available at around £250 less, what can it offer to tempt us?

Well we think quite a lot!

The C2500 comes with 15 personal trainer workouts plus iFit Fitness Journal software which allows you to keep track of your progress on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. It has a slot for iFit card programmes cost around £25 and look to be good value for money.

It also has a more powerful, commercial-grade motor that will take quite a hammering, superior shock absorption technology and a built-in fan to keep you cool. And with the programmes in this model believe us when we say you'll need that fan!

We think NordicTrack have really hit the nail on the head with the C series as they have something to offer most people across the mid-price range bracket. They're a quality product with a solid feel and motors well up to driving the large belts. The iFit programmes are a big plus as they act as a personal trainer telling you what to do - yes they do talk via the speakers in the console.

The NordicTrack C2500 looks very stylish and solid. The large deck and design gives a sense of acres of space and the motor is excellent shifting the running belt with ease at top speeds. The inclusion of a commercial grade motor, a DurX 2.5 HP motor, means you could probably run on this all day every day and it will easily cope - the fact that the warranty covers the motor for 10 years gives you an idea of the faith the manufacturer has in it! And we admit a couple of us did snigger at its name :0)

The Durasoft V adjustable cushioning technology is better than the C2000's system and can be altered using 5 settings to reduce impact on your joints from 19% to 33% - a good feature in our books as you can find the feel to suit you. Not everyone likes a soft deck whilst others suffer running on a hard 'road' simulation deck.

As mentioned earlier, the NordicTrack C2500 comes with personal trainer workout programmes for weight loss and classic fitness workouts. As personal trainers ourselves we understand the importance of variation in a training programme. To keep doing the same workout day in day out not only becomes dull and reducing your chances of achieving your goals, it also lessens the benefits you get as your body is no longer challenged.

Another great feature is the 'Competition Training Center' which lets you race against a virtual competitor. We first came across this on the Proform 5.2 and it's really good fun and also a good motivator. The console has a good sized display which is easy to read with one touch buttons and speakers and a socket for your iPod. We found it easy to use and read, it also as a socket for iFit CD Cards.

The warranty is excellent, it comes With lifetime frame cover, 10 years on the motor and 2 years full on site parts and labour.

Conclusion:
The NordicTrack C2500 has a great deal to offer even the serious runner. The large running deck and its powerful motor will give anyone a challenging workout. It's packed with features that can help you achieve your targets and in our view looks very good value for money. If you can't justify spending this much on a treadmill the Nordictrack C2000 may be a better option but it doesn't come with all the iFit programmes and Journal Software. The C2500 is a great machine and with some retailers currently offering it for just £795 it's very easy to recommend it!
